Another Cause for Pain and Suffering in the World
The last post relating to the question “what are some causes suffering in the world” we looked at one cause for suffering being the devil. We know although God is Lord over everything, satan along with his angels rule this world thanks to the sin of Adam and Eve. We know he will be cast out of this world at the final judgement “Now judgment is upon this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out. (John 12:31) But until then evil is very much alive and present, doing his best to fool you and me into joining him in hell by getting us to act against God. Evil reigns prevalent over the earth and over us and as you can see is doing a bang up job of getting people to embrace the smallest sins announcing them good for the soul and persecuting those who refuse to adopt their twisted logic.

Now we move on to some ways we let evil in our life. And this is the truth everyone hates to admit, that we all sin everyday. ( 1 John 1:8) People like to believe sin is reserved for murderers and thiefs, you know only the really bad guys. What kind of person are we? Who we are, how we act, what we think and what we say absolutely has consequences to the kind of life, experiences, relationships, work and family atmosphere we exist in.
…Are you telling me if I cheat on a test or lie to my boss I’m the cause of some bad stuff in my life? …Are you telling me that although my wife and I are Christians but because we don’t read the Bible or celebrate God in our house bad things can happen?(well that disqualifies you as a Christian) …Are you telling me, a Christian, that because I haven’t cared that my boyfriends weren’t Christian that that’s why all my relationships have been crap?…….Yup, yup and defiantly yup!
God is love. 1 John 4:8,16. Anything that isn’t love, is evil. And whoever isn’t for God is against God (Matt. 12:30, Luke 11:23).The word evil sounds extreme to some people today with the current trending mind set being that nothing is important, to heck with honor and value-mediocrity rules! In a society that places no importance on words, we’ve become totally ignorant of their power, forgetting that the universe and everything in it was and is birthed from a word! Life and death are in the tongue. Proverbs 18:21.
But I’m a good person. Ya before I was reborn I used to say that too. People have the hardest time believing that they’re sinners. They can’t quite comprehend that some of the things people do everyday like act in anger, worry and fear are sins. But when we participate in those states of being, we are under the influence of the devil. See how sly he is? He’s not called the great deceiver for nothing. All of Ephesians explains about the dangers of sin especially in a person who has been reborn and tells how something that is seen as simple as silly talk is dangerous enough to give the devil access. Ephesians 4:26-27 ….do not give the devil an opportunity.
God is pure -love -light. Anything that isn’t, can’t exist in Him or with Him. “ For God hasn’t given us a spirit of fear and confusion but of power and love and of a sound mind.” 2Timothy 1:7
So whenever we act anyway but in love and when we lie, cheat, act foolish and stupid we aren’t in sync with God. We cut God off from our lives . He can’t bless us where sin is. We’ve now opened doors for satan to enter and work his lies in us. If you think some people are impervious to the devil, you’re dead wrong. Not even Mother Teresa was immune from the attempts of the devil to crush her faith. Just the fact that the devil had the nerve to tempt Jesus should be a clear indication about how much harder we humans have to be vigilant in our mind, heart and soul against the relentless forces of evil that will never stop at trying to drag us away from Christ down to his pit. “Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. (1 Peter 5:8)
Warrior for God
There are so many areas in our life we leave defenseless allowing satan to take root and spin his lies. We have to be conscious that life isn’t a game, that our souls are at stake and that we are in a race for our life and at the end either heaven or hell await us. The war is real my friends.The church has failed to teach the most prominent aspects of Christian life, the ongoing battle we face against evil and the absolute obedience to God we must have in order to win.
We found out how to defend ourselves from evil in a previous post about suffering and pain in the world. We talked briefly here on some ways we give evil access to our lives. And next we’ll look at “why God allows hardships in a Christians life” (James 1:2-4 )before we get into “the kind of Christian we are determines how much crap, negative and painful things our life will have in it.”(Philippians 3:18)
